Impact Christian Academy's board of directors volunteers their time to guide our mission and care for the school's future. Every member believes in what ICA exists to do: train young people up and send them out to serve. Their wisdom and faithfulness have helped carry ICA from a handful of students in 2023 to 40 today. Get to know them below.

Becky Rivest is a leadership and team development consultant and coach with Leaders Rising Network in Madison, where she helps organizations whose growth or pace of change is outpacing their leadership capacity. Her career has centered on developing people and building healthy cultures where individuals can grow and thrive. Becky has served on the ICA Board of Directors since fall 2024. She sees Christian education as vocational discipleship, preparing students for what God has called them to do and who He has called them to be. She is passionate about helping students become resilient, relationally and emotionally mature, and grounded in God's Word so they can navigate culture with wisdom and shine His light wherever they are planted. Becky and her husband, Rob, attend City Church, where she previously served on the marriage and family ministries leadership team, and she has volunteered at local food pantries. They have lived in the Madison area for several decades and have two adult daughters and a son-in-law. The family loves hiking, kayaking, and golf, and Becky grows blueberries in her garden. She feels closest to God in worship and in nature, and she considers chocolate its own food group.

Beth Schultz is a registered nurse who has been a stay-at-home mom since her children were young. She joined the ICA Board of Directors in fall 2025, eager to help guide the school toward its mission of academic excellence with a biblical worldview. With two of her children attending ICA, she brings a parent's inside perspective to the board. Her family's own experience shapes why she serves. Her children attended public schools until 2020, when the family moved the youngest three to an established Christian K-8 school, and the difference was night and day. Beth believes starting a new Christian high school is hard work and well worth it, because families need high school options they can trust to uphold God's truth. She attends Memorial Baptist Church in Verona, where she serves in youth ministries. Beth and her husband have four children. The family loves road trips and board games, and their son Charlie is on track to become the first ICA graduate to have been with the school since it began in Mount Horeb.

Kevin Mehring is the founder of Impact Christian Academy and a retired business executive. After earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from Marquette University, he built his career at PPG Industries, two start-up companies, and probiotic manufacturer Danisco, where he rose to Global Business Director. In 2013, he partnered with Lakeview Equity to acquire UAS Laboratories, grew it into a leading global probiotics company, and led its 2020 sale to Chr. Hansen, where he served as Senior Vice President of Human Health until retiring in January 2023 to focus on nonprofit leadership. While serving on the Oregon School Board during the COVID years, Kevin felt called to start a Christian high school in Dane County. He gathered a small group of Christian leaders to form ICA, which opened for the 2023-2024 school year and is now in its fourth year, pursuing its vision to inspire learners to reach their intellectual potential, grow in their Christian faith, and serve compassionately. Kevin is also the founder and board chair of Bridge to Brighter, a Milwaukee County nonprofit serving young men aging out of foster care. In 2020, Kevin, his wife, Shelly, and their sons Tyler, Trevor, Blake, and Brady formed the Mehring Family Foundation, which supports foster care and Christian education.

LaToya Aure is Head of Web Experience Development at Shopbop and Zappos. After graduating from Taylor University, a Christian college in Indiana, she began her career as a web designer in Madison while working evenings in retail, drawn by her love of fashion and of connecting with people. She joined Shopbop in customer service in 2008, soon moved to the web content team and later became its manager, growing it from two people into a cross-brand function that shapes digital experiences for millions of Shopbop and Zappos customers. LaToya joined the ICA Board of Directors in 2025. She serves because she believes children should never have to choose between an excellent education and growing deeply in their faith, and she wants to help ICA keep providing that foundation. Her faith became personal at age 11, when a scholarship sent her to Timber-Lee, a Christian summer camp. As one of the few Black children in her school, she often felt different, and at camp she understood for the first time that God created her intentionally and loves her completely. That truth still shapes how she leads with grace and kindness. LaToya and her husband, Dave, have three children, and she has called Wisconsin home for more than 40 years. A big kid at heart, she loves video games, drawing, roller skating, travel, and sci-fi novels with her family.

Shannon Barman owns Fineline Designs and manages her family's construction business, caring for several properties, including the family farm and a commercial property in Middleton. She has served on several local nonprofit boards and has been involved at HPCS, where her children have attended for many years. Shannon joined the ICA Board of Directors in summer 2024. Her family prayed for years for a Christian high school on Madison's west side, and when they heard the Mehrings’ vision, they offered to help however they could. She serves because she believes an education built on God and the Bible shapes strong character, a firm moral compass, and a heart for service, equipping students to become godly leaders who engage the culture from a biblical perspective. Shannon grew up in a Christian home, but a near-death experience as a teenager made her faith her own and taught her that tomorrow is a gift, not a guarantee. She and her family attend Doxa Church in Madison, where they host a weekly connection group and volunteer. Shannon and her husband, Brian, live on the Middleton farm where she grew up, and they raise their two children, one of whom attends ICA, while caring for goats and chickens. She loves faith-based movies and wears a ring bearing Ruth 1:16, a keepsake from Israel that reminds her daily of her loyalty to faith, family, and freedom.
